Chamarajanagar district secretary visits flood-hit areas
CHAMARAJANAGAR: Following the release of water from Kabini and KRS dams to the downstream river, district secretary B B Cauvery has inspected various flood-hit areas and villages along the Cauvery river basin.
The official visited villages like Dasanapura, Hale Anagalli, Harale, Halehampapura, Mullur and Yedakuriya Island in Kollegal taluk.
At Dasanapura, she told reporters that the district administration has taken measures to shift the affected people to safer places and to relief centres set up at the taluk headquarters.
“Instructions have been given to officials from the departments of horticulture, agriculture and revenue to jointly assess the loss of crops, property and livestock because of floods. Special plan has been made to rescue livestock,” she added.
Assistant commissioner Nikitha M Chinnaswamy, district urban planning cell programme director K Suresh, tahsildar K Kunal, CNNL executive engineer Raghu, CMC commissioner Nagashetty, Cesc AEE Ningaraj and others were present during the visit.
