GREATER NOIDA: A property dealer has been arrested for allegedly fraudulently selling a Noida resident’s plot in Tigri village last year by preparing forged documents. Khoda resident Pankaj Yadav’s arrest came five months after the registration of an FIR by Bisrakh police, following an intervention by the Meerut commissioner.
According to Geeta Devi, a resident of Noida’s Sector 55, she had been running from pillar to post with the original land documents since November 2019, but there was no FIR on her complaint until March 2020 due to police’s “one-sided inquiry”.
Even after the FIR, there were no arrests.
“On my complaint against the property dealer, cops had probed the claims of both sides. Despite producing original documents, the police submitted a wrong report against me,” she said.
It was only after the woman met many senior officials, including the Meerut commissioner, that a re-investigation was ordered. “It was only after the commissioner’s intervention, police got active and took the necessary action,” she said.
Police, however, claimed they had lodged a case against the accused and two others in March under Section 188 ( Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 447 (punishment for criminal trespass). After a probe, IPC sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (whoever fraudulently or dishonestly uses forged as genuine) were added to the FIR.
“The accused had been absconding since the registration of the FIR. A police team arrested him on Monday. He was produced in a court and sent to judicial custody,” said Ankur Agarwal, additional DCP (central Noida).
