Uttar Pradesh: Health team attacked in Kushinagar

A 40-year-old lab technician was injured and a corona rapid team vehicle was damaged when locals of Pagra Padri village under Patehrwa police station of Kushinagar district pelted stones at the health department team who had come to collect swab samples for Covid test in their area. Five villagers were arrested.

GORAKHPUR: A 40-year-old lab technician was injured and a corona rapid team vehicle was damaged when locals of Pagra Padri village under Patehrwa police station of Kushinagar district pelted stones at the health department team who had come to collect swab samples for Covid test in their area. Five villagers were arrested.
“When the Tamkuhi CHC health team came in contact with a Covid positive woman in the area, a group of villagers attacked the team with stick and stones.
The corona rapid team vehicle (UP 57 AT 1959) was also damaged.
Five villagers including Umesh Bharti, Juguil Prasad, Yogendra Prasad, Shmbhu and Rajan Bharti were arrested from Pagra Padri village under Sections 147, 188, 186, 269, 270, 323, 332, 336, 427 of IPC, Disaster Management Act and 7 Criminal Law Amendment Act. Police are looking for the other five accused,” said Kushinagar SP Vinod Kumar Mishra.
“The accused will be booked under NSA as well,” he added.
On the instructions of Tamkuhi CHC in-charge, Dr Abhishek Verma, Dr Vipin Kumar, lab technician Vinod Sharma, health supervisor Vijay Chauhan and driver Sandeep had gone to Pagra Padri village to take swab samples.
