Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday and said he has opted to isolate himself at home.
Naik, who has mostly been in Goa since the lockdown, tweeted: “I underwent Covid-19 test today & it has turned out assymptomaically positive. My vitals are within normal limits and I have opted for home isolation. Those who have came in contact with me in last few days are advised to get tested for themselves and take required precautions.”
With the Covid facilities in Goa running to full capacity, a new protocol allows asymptomatic patients to recuperate at home.

Naik, who is also the minister of state for defence, was over the last few days busy visiting monsoon-heavy spots in his Parliamentary constituency of North Goa. He was scheduled to launch a web campaign called ‘Ayush for immunity’ on August 14.
Goa reported a total of 480 coronavirus cases on Wednesday, including that of Naik.
Siddaramaiah free of virus, to go home today
Bengaluru: Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, who is undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at a private hospital in Bengaluru has tested negative and will be discharged on Thursday, his office said Wednesday. According to doctors, a throat swab and blood test conducted for the second time have come out negative, a statement said. PTI.
