    Haryana govt approves DPR for metro rail connection from HUDA City Centre to key areas in Gurugram

    • To provide metro rail connectivity to the residents of old Gurugram, the Haryana government on Thursday accorded approval for a final detailed project report (DPR) of metro rail connection from HUDA City Centre to various important locations in the industrial city.
    • The total length of the corridor shall be about 28.80 km, consisting of 27 elevated stations with six interchange stations involving a cost of Rs 6,821.13 crore, an official statement said after a cabinet meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh.

    • Indian consumers are undergoing a fundamental change in behaviour driven by health, privacy and hyper-localisation, says a report by consultancy firm EY.
    • Around 70 per cent of the population continues to grapple with "fear and anxiety" and the consumer mindset is largely "negative and cautious", according to a study 'Life in a pandemic' by EY.
    • "Due to the pandemic, people are becoming health conscious -- 80 per cent of the respondents are improving their eating habits, 56 per cent are engaging in housework and 33 per cent are doing workouts," it said.

    India imposes provisional anti-dumping duty on black toner from China, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei

    • India has imposed anti-dumping duty on black toner in powder form, used in printers and photocopiers, imported from China, Malaysia and Chinese Taipei for six months to guard domestic players.
    • The duty was imposed following recommendation by Commerce Ministry's investigation arm Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR).
    • DGTR had in June recommended the duty after conducting a probe in alleged dumping of the product by certain companies from these countries, following a complaint by domestic manufacturers.

    RBI remains net purchaser of US dollar in June, buys USD 9.814 bn

    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) remained net purchaser of the US currency for the second consecutive month in June after it bought USD 9.814 billion of greenback on a net basis, according to RBI data.
