GURUGRAM: Three people were arrested by the special task force (STF) of Haryana
Police on Thursday and 331kg of
marijuana was recovered from their possession. The trio were
smuggling the drugs marijuana from
Chhattisgarh and were planning to deliver it across Haryana, police said.
A team led by inspector Sandeep Dhankar intercepted the tractor trolley, the trio were travelling in, near Katsera
Palwal on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and on checking the vehicle found the drugs hidden in a specially created box under the tractor.
“They had modified the tractor and created a special box between the tyres to hide the drugs,” said SP (STF) Virender Vij adding that the STF team had prior information about the movement of large quantities of marijuana in tractors. The trio have been identified as Vijaypal, Rishi Pal and Pravesh — all residents of Shamli in UP. Parvesh was arrested last year in UP for drug smuggling. During interrogation the accused revealed that they had bought the marijuana for Rs 2,000 per kg from a person in Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh and were planning to sell it for Rs 10,000 per kg.
