Stock market update: Nifty Commodities index slips; Hindustan Zinc loses 2%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Commodities index was trading with losses at 01:58PM (IST) on Friday.

Shares of The Ramco Cements Ltd (down 2.37 per cent), Hindustan Zinc (down 2.07 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 1.96 per cent), Indian Oil Corporation (down 1.5 per cent) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (down 1.34 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Coal India (up 3.37 per cent), PI Industrial (up 2.42 per cent), JSW Steel (up 1.55 per cent), Tata Steel (up 1.44 per cent) and NHPC (up 0.97 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Commodities index was trading 0.08 per cent down at 3110.1 around 01:58PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 87.65 points at 11212.8, while the BSE Sensex was down 296.06 points at 38014.43.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Lupin, Birlasoft, APL Apollo Tube, Ruchi Soya Inds and KIOCL Ltd. hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style Ltd., Keerti Knowledge and Skills Ltd. and Uniinfo Telecom Services Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
