BENGALURU: Placements in top engineering colleges for the batch graduating in 2021 kicked off with the same fervour as before despite the pandemic, say colleges.
On Day Zero in RV College of Engineering on August 3, three companies came with dream offers for eight students. An Australian firm offered one student Rs 52 lakh per annum as CTC; Udaan made two offers and Tekion five of Rs 35 lakh per annum.

"I had four rounds of interviews; I was tested for my coding skills in the first two; the third round focused on system design and the fourth was on values and managerial skills," said Akshar Prasad, who was placed in the Australian-based company.
In PES University, AppDynamics Technologies India Private Limited was the first firm to start e-hiring. Three computer science students bagged offers with CTC of Rs 39.2 lakh per year. They have also been offered internship with a monthly stipend of Rs 75,000.
"The e-hiring process was new to me. I was a bit apprehensive initially but once it started, the interviewers were extremely friendly and made sure I was comfortable at every stage," said Bharani Ujjaini Kempaiah, one of the three PES students who got the offer.
In University Visversvaraya College of Engineering, three students were picked up by SAP Labs for Rs 20.5 lakh per annum. "So far, there's no sign of the pandemic affecting placements," said BM Rajaprakash, placement officer.
MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology said firms are not shying away from offering jobs and two have made bulk offers to 30-35 students each. "The virtual hiring process is getting interesting with group interviews and assignments," said Savitha Rani M, placement officer.
