Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan wished their fans a happy Independence Day on social media.

India is celebrating its 74th Independence Day today. While this year, it is not being celebrated with its usual fervour due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Bollywood stars took to social media to wish their fans on the special day. From Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar to Kareena Kapoor Khan and Vicky Kaushal, celebrities shared their thoughts on Independence Day.

Amitabh Bachchan shared a poem and saluted the warriors who are fighting Covid-19. He wrote, "The true warriors in the fight against Covid .. salute .. and on this auspicious Day of our Independence wishes for peace prosperity (sic)."

Akshay Kumar requested his fans to support underprivileged people of the society. He shared a video and wrote, "We all know these people, we all have these people in our lives. On this #IndependenceDay, lets come together for them, lets come #Together4India. Jisse jitni ho sake utni madad kijiye.. bas nazarandaz mat kijiye (Help as much as you can, just don't ignore) Share the way YOU care. Jai Hind (sic)."

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is pregnant with her second kid with Saif Ali Khan, shared a photo of their son, Taimur Ali Khan, holding two Tricolours. She wrote, "Freedom in our minds, faith in our words and pride in our souls. #HappyIndependenceDay (sic)."

Vicky Kaushal shared a video of the Indian Tricolour and wrote, "Happy 74th Independence Day!"

Priyanka Chopra shared a video about India's freedom struggle and women's contribution to it. She wrote, "History is made when women take strides towards change. Happy #IndependenceDay #womeninhistory #changemakers (sic)."

Kriti Sanon wrote that it's always a good time to pray. She wrote, "Sending out Prayers and PositivityYellow heart
May the truth shine soonSun with rays. This independence day, lets also free ourselves from negativity and hate while we stand for our beliefs and for what is right. #happyindependenceday #PrayersForSSR #LoveBeforeHate (sic)."

Kajol shared a video clip from her film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in which she is seen saying, "Saare Jahaan Se Achcha Hindustaan Humara. Kabhi mat bhulna." Along with the video, she wrote, "Repeat after me! #IndependenceDay (sic)."

On the occasion of the 74th Independence Day of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort in Delhi. He also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
