Bengaluru witnessed low-key Independence Day celebrations today . Unlike every year, the celebrations this year were held sans any cultural performance at the Manekshaw Parade Ground. However, the highlight of the event was COVID-19 warriors being acknowledged and celebrated for their contribution. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, who himself had tested positive for coronavirus a few weeks ago, was seen addressing the attendees.
He went on to thank BBMP workers, officials and all those who contributed during the pandemic. BBMP Powrakarmikas were the chief guests this year for the independence day celebrations. This year, many COVID-19 survivors too were among the special guests who attended the low key event. The event was held as per COVID-19 guidelines issued by the health ministry. Security personnel were seen wearing PPE kits and masks at the ground. Here are some pictures from the celebrations:

Every year, elaborate arrangements are made ahead of the celebrations in Bengaluru. School students participate in the parade and are seen practising for the same months before the event. In addition to this, several city folk too are seen attending the celebrations at the Manekshaw Parade Grounds, where officers from the armed forces are seen putting up a elaborate show full of stunts and more. Celebrations were low-key across the city. Many schools and colleges too took the online route for the I-Day celebrations.
