PATNA: A drug addict allegedly hacked his mother to death for refusing to give him Rs 50 to buy ganja.
The incident took place at Fakrabad under Chainpur police station in Kaimur district on Saturday night. The woman was identified as Jafroon Biwi (50), while the killer son’s name is Naeem Pawaria alias Naeem Khan (23).
SHO Santosh Kumar said Naeem had demanded Rs50 from his mother for purchasing ganja.
“When Jafroon said she did not have money even to feed the family, a heated altercation ensued during which Naeem attacked her with an iron rod kept inside their home. He also fractured both her arms. Afterwards, he slammed her on the floor and stuffed a piece of cloth in her mouth,” he said.
The SHO said Naeem also tried to strangle her when his younger brother Guddu Pawaria entered the house. “Guddu stopped Naeem and tried to catch him. However, he pushed Guddu and fled. The woman was rushed to hospital, but died on the way,” Kumar said.
He said Naeem is not only a drug addict but a man of short temper. “Ten days back, he had thrashed his wife after which she fled. She has also filed a domestic violence case against him,” the SHO said.
He said raids were on to nab Naeem. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem on Sunday. The SHO said an FIR against Naeem was registered on Guddu’s statement.
