Criminal lynched in Bihar's Madhubani village

Villagers lynched a criminal after chasing him for a kilometre and thrashed his associate after they allegedly shot at a former sarpanch, Anil Chaudhary (45), when the latter opposed to their act of abusing and thrashing a tea seller. The incident occurred at Lohat village under the Pandaul police station area in Madhubani district on Saturday.

PATNA: Villagers lynched a criminal after chasing him for a kilometre and thrashed his associate after they allegedly shot at a former sarpanch, Anil Chaudhary (45), when the latter opposed to their act of abusing and thrashing a tea seller. The incident occurred at Lohat village under the Pandaul police station area in Madhubani district on Saturday.
Police said the lynched criminal was identified as Govind Chaudhary (30) and his injured associate as Kamlesh Yadav (40).
Anil was rushed to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for treatment along with Kamlesh. Anil was sarpanch of Belahi panchayat.
SHO (incharge) of Pandaul police station Mohd Nabi Hassan Khan said Anil was sitting at a tea stall when Kamlesh reached there and asked for tea. “The stall owner expressed his inability to serve tea immediately. Kamlesh started abusing and thrashing him. When Anil opposed to it, Kamlesh picked up a fight with him. Govind also reached the stall and opened fire. One of the bullets hit a thigh of Anil,” he said.
