Karnataka: IISc, NMIT, PES-Mandya snap up innovation ranks

The Indian Institute of Science and Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, both in Bengaluru, and Mandya’s PES College of Engineering feature among the top five in different categories in Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) released by the ministry of education on Tuesday.

BENGALURU: The Indian Institute of Science and Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, both in Bengaluru, and Mandya’s PES College of Engineering feature among the top five in different categories in Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) released by the ministry of education on Tuesday.
IISc is ranked fourth, after IITMadras, Bombay and Delhi, in the category of institutes of national importance and central universities.
NITSuratkal is among the top 25 in this category. PES College is at the second spot in the list of government and aided colleges. Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology is third among private or self-financed institutes.
Some 674 institutions participated in the ARIIA rankings this year compared with 496 institutions last year. Stating that it’s the only private engineering college from Karnataka to make the cut, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology said it has always placed emphasis on research and innovation.
MS Ramaiah Institute and JSS Academy in top 25 list
The college cited its “innumerable patents on innovative products” and achievements, including first place in Smart India Hackathon, 2020 for its invention of Wikipills.
Other colleges in the top 25 include HKE Society’s PDA College of Engineering (government or aided colleges); JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Reva University and Yenepoya University (self-financed universities); and MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, New Horizon College of Engineering and Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management in the self-financed college category.
