Earlier this summer, the New Jersey Lottery made an announcement that the state’s signature lottery game would soon hit new heights, with bigger jackpots on the way.

That was in June, and now they’re delivering on that promise with not only a record setting jackpot on the way for the Jersey Cash 5 game tonight, but the second million dollar jackpot this month alone.

In a press release that was sent out just a little while ago, New Jersey Lottery officials said that the grand prize for tonight’s drawing (Friday, August 21st) has soared to a record $1.8 million.

The previous August million-plus jackpot was on August 7th when a player hit all 5 numbers for a grand prize that was just under $1.7 million (if you want to be precise, it was $1,669,143.00).

In the press release, NJ Lottery officials say that the Jersey Cash 5 jackpot has been growing for about a week and a half, with the last grand prize of a cool half million being claimed on August 12th.

The pot has more than tripled since then.

Back when the New Jersey Lottery made the June announcement of bigger jackpots to come, they said that the Jersey Cash 5 jackpots would be increasing by as much as 33%

Tonight’s Jersey Cash 5 drawing will be at 10:57 P.M. so you still have some time to grab yourself a ticket.

If there’s no winner tonight, the jackpot will continue to balloon on the daily game with the next drawing coming up tomorrow night, Saturday, August 22nd.
