Varanasi: Covid patient jumps to death from fourth floor of BHU hospital

A 21-year-old patient at Covid-19 ward of Sir Sunderlal hospital of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) ended his life by jumping from the fourth floor of the hospital building on Sunday midnight.

VARANASI: A 21-year-old patient at Covid-19 ward of Sir Sunderlal hospital of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) ended his life by jumping from the fourth floor of the hospital building on Sunday midnight.
SP Vikas Chandra Tripathi said that after the patient jumped, the BHU security personnel immediately rushed him to the emergency ward, where doctors declared him dead.

The Covid patient's body was sent for postmortem, said SP City, adding, his family had not registered any complaint with Lanka police so far.
According to police, Ankit Pathak of Kaitholi village under the limits of Phoolpur police station, was initially rushed to the emergency ward of SSL hospital of BHU due to some neuro problem about a week ago. When he was tested Covid-19 positive, he was kept in Covid ward of the hospital.
Ankit’s sister Priti Mishra and brother-in-law Kishan Mishra said, "The hospital administration informed the family that he had died after jumping from the fourth floor of the hospital late on Sunday".
His mother Madhuri alleged that she lost her son due to the hospital's laxity.
