HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy has alleged that TRS government is misleading the poor on its promise of giving them double bed room houses and demanded that the government issue a white paper on the status of over 2.50 lakh two-BHK units sanctioned by it.
Narayana Reddy also demanded that the government should also explain to the people of Telangana the status of over 20 lakh applications it received from the poor seeking 2BHK units.

Referring to the claim of the TRS ministers and Mayor B Rammohan that thousands of two-BHK units were ready for allotment on or before Dasara festival by October end, he said construction of only high-rise buildings has been completed without basic amenities in them. “There are no sewerage lines and sewerage treatment plants at 52 locations of two-BHK sites. Many two-BHK projects are located in Hyderabad's outskirts with no proper roads, drinking water supply and other amenities,” Narayana Reddy alleged.
"Is it justified to claim 100% fulfillment of promise by delivering less than 25,000 units as against the sanctioned 2.82 lakh houses," he asked? The KCR-government should also explain as to how it proposes to provide housing to the remaining 20 lakh families who do not own a house in Greater Hyderabad.
As per the Intensive Household Survey conducted by the State Government in August 2014, there are more than 22 lakh BPL families living in rented houses. TRS leaders wooed the people by promising 2BHKs free of cost. Before GHMC elections in 2016, the TRS government completed just 396 units in IDH Colony and used its pictures for publicity to cheat the people. Consequently, the homeless poor people voted for TRS in the GHMC elections, Narayana Reddy alleged.
“TRS and MIM leaders again cheated the poor by collecting lakhs of application forms for 2BHKs. As an eye wash, 2.80 lakh houses, including 1.65 lakh in Hyderabad were sanctioned. However, not more than 25,000 units are under various stages of construction and might be ready before GHMC elections. Now TRS leaders will use these houses as publicity tools to get votes in next GHMC elections," he said.
