Iron rods pierce conductor's body in Karnataka’s Ballari

A conductor was severely injured as iron rods pierced his body when a bus rammed into a lorry loaded with rods and parked on National Highway-50 at Kudligi in Karnataka's Ballari in the wee hours of Wednesday.

BALLARI: A conductor was severely injured as iron rods pierced his body when a bus rammed into a lorry loaded with rods and parked on National Highway-50 at Kudligi in Karnataka's Ballari in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Conductor Sharanappa B Naregal was on duty in the bus belonging to Kushtagi depot of NEKRTC. Rods pierced his stomach, hand and leg. Eyewitnesses said the mishap occurred around 1am and the bus driver could not recognise rods as there was no trail light.
Driver Harry Avin Kumar and nurse Maresh, who rushed to the spot by 108 ambulance, removed rods from Naregal's body and took him to VIMS hospital in Ballari, where sources said the conductor was responding to the treatment.

The bus driver and some passengers have sustained minor injuries.
Bengaluru-bound bus had departed from Kushtagi late on Tuesday.
Kudligi police have registered a case.
