Namakkal police seize 30kg of ganja, arrest two

NAMAKKAL: The Namakkal district police on Tuesday seized 300kg of ganja, worth Rs 30 lakh, being smuggled on a truck.
The police arrested two men in connection with this. The arrested have been identified as truck driver T Palani, 55, and D Rajkukar, 34. Both are natives of Pethanaickenpalayam in Salem district.
Sub-inspector Velusamy of the Namakkal town police station, who was on a vehicle check near the Murugan temple bus stop, spotted 15 bags of ganja on a truck that was entering the town from the Salem-Madurai National Highway.

Superintendent of police S Sakthi Ganesan said the district police had arrested 13 ganja peddlers since July 17 and seized 410kg of ganja worth Rs 41 lakh.
The SP warned that the ganja peddlers would be detained under the Goondas Act.
