The Rewa football team will treat the Vodafone Premier League round two opening match against Ba as the final, says Marika Rodu.

The Rewa coach’s Delta Tigers face Ba at the Fiji Football Academy ground in Ba on Saturday.

Despite defeating Ba 8-7 after penalty shootout in the Punjas Battle of the Giants tournament semi-final, Rodu said they had unfinished business to settle from round one.

“The expectation of the game is high from both teams,” he said.

“They are in second position and they have a good team. They will be preparing very well, but we want  to avenge our loss in the first round. “There are some unfinished businesses from two camps and on Saturday we are going to settle that.”

Rewa currently lead the VPL points  table after the first round with 16 points while Ba is on 15.

“We need to win to keep our spot on top. The encounter with Ba is going to be the most crucial one for this season, a final,”Rodu said.

“We want to make sure we go in all out for the win this weekend.

“Whoever wins this will create a bigger gap for the first and second position.”

Six members of the Rewa team are with the national squad training camp in Ba which finishes on Friday.

While Ba will have the advantage of home support, Rodu has urged Rewa fans to be there if possible.

“We wish they could be there. There is no other motivation available, but to win this game, if the fans are coming in numbers then it will boost the boys,” he said.

Other games on Sunday:

1pm Nadi-Navua (Prince Charles Park); 2pm Nasinu-Lautoka (Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori); 3 Suva-Labasa (ANZ Stadium).
