Liquor worth Rs 30 lakh seized in Bihar's Supaul, 2 held

Officials of the state excise and prohibition department were taken aback when they spotted a vehicle with sticker ‘On Army Duty’ carrying around 12,000 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor in Supaul district on Wednesday. The container bearing registration number of Haryana was transporting the liquor worth Rs 30 lakh in violation of the prohibition law.

PATNA: Officials of the state excise and prohibition department were taken aback when they spotted a vehicle with sticker ‘On Army Duty’ carrying around 12,000 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor in Supaul district on Wednesday. The container bearing registration number of Haryana was transporting the liquor worth Rs 30 lakh in violation of the prohibition law.
Supaul excise superintendent Devendra Prasad said a team of officials led by inspector P K Karn intercepted a container on Supaul-Bhaptiyahi road and arrested its driver, Shakeel Khan, and his assistant, Sahin Khan, both residents of Parwal district in Haryana.
Altogether 300 cartons of IMFL were seized from the container.
