Andhra Pradesh: 3 dead, 9 injured in road mishap in Srikakulam district

Three peopledied while nine escaped with minor injuries in a road mishap at Palasa in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. The deceased were identified as workers of a private port in Visakhapatnam city, according to the Andhra Pradesh police.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Three peole died while nine escaped with minor injuries in a road mishap at Palasa in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. The deceased were identified as workers of a private port in Visakhapatnam city, according to the Andhra Pradesh police.
The deceased were identified as Sujith Kumar G, Burabadri and Robin Bogango. The three died while undergoing treatment at Palasa and Srikakulam government hospitals.
Speaking to TOI, the Palasa sub-inspector Y Madhusudhana Rao said that 12 people, all aged below 25 years from Jharkhand, left their state on August 27 to Visakhapatnam in a Bolero XL four-wheeler to attend their duties at a private port in Visakhapatnam city.

When they reached Palasa police station limits, their vehicle rammed into a stationary lorry on the National Highway-16 on Friday midnight, the SI said. The injured were undergoing treatment at Palasa and Srikakulam hospitals. There were 12 people including driver Subhan Singh in the vehicle at the time of the accident, the SI added.
The Palasa deputy superintendent of police M Sivarami Reddy said “Based on the nature of the accident, we assumed that the driver of the vehicle could have maintained more than 100kmph.”
The incident occurred near Mogilipadu flyover at Nemali Narayanapuram village in Palasa mandal. The police suspect that the accident took place due to the negligence of the driver.
The Police registered cases under section 304A (Causing death by Negligence), section 337 (Causing hurt by Act endangering life or personal safety of others) among other IPC sections.
