Virus kills Satara police constable, Maharashtra tally rises to 155

A 47-year-old police constable attached with the Satara police motor transport (MT) section succumbed to Covid-19 on August 29 taking the state toll to 155, of which 69 are from Mumbai. The deceased Santosh Dalvi, who had comorbidities, breathed last at 11.30pm at Sanjeevani Hospital in Satara.

MUMBAI: A 47-year-old police constable attached with the Satara police motor transport (MT) section succumbed to Covid-19 on August 29 taking the state toll to 155, of which 69 are from Mumbai. The deceased Santosh Dalvi, who had comorbidities, breathed last at 11.30pm at Sanjeevani Hospital in Satara.
Dalvi was on duty when he was tested Covid positive on August 22 and along with other personnel were kept in quarantine at Alankar Hall.
“Dalvi was shifted to the hospital two days later after his condition deteriorated and blood pressure shot up after he got scared on learning that he was infected with the virus. He didn’t complain of fever and breathlessness till he was hospitalised on August 24,” said a Satara police officer.
A total of 161 personnel has got infected in the last 24 hours taking the positive cases to 14,953 of which 11,999 recovered and 2,800 are getting treated.
