Over 38,000 aspirants from Odisha to appear for JEE Main from tomorrow

BHUBANESWAR: A total of 38,236 students from Odisha will appear for JEE Main examination in seven cities between September 1 and September 6. These cities were Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore, Berhampur, Rourkela, Dhenkanal and Sambalpur.
National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the examination in 26 centres (six centres in Bhubaneswar) across the state. First sitting of the examination will be held between 9am and 12pm, while the second sitting will start from 3pm and continue till 6pm.Students were advised to reach their examination centres by 7am.
The state government has made arrangements for free transportation and accommodation of students in seven cities. Around 30 buses and 40 small vehicles were used to transport the aspirants. Students are staying in 20 institutes across seven cities.
Bhubaneswar and nearby areas will get around 16,000 students. The capital city has six examination centres. Government has arranged six institutes to accommodate the needy students. The Bhubaneswar municipal corporation (BMC) has made arrangements for students to stay in hotels by paying money apart from the free accommodation centres.
Aspirants, whose body temperature is above 100 degree Fahrenheit, appearing JEE Main will be made to sit in separate room. Khurda district collector Sanat Kumar Mohanty said they will conduct thermal screening of each student at the entrance gate of examination centres.
Mohanty said one doctor will be deployed at each examination centre for any emergency health checkup of students or staff on examination duty. Even ambulance facility will be available for the aspirants. Other district administrations will take similar steps in their districts, official sources said.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, secretary of skill development and technical education department, said the aspirants, who wanted help of transportation and accommodation facilities of the government, reached their examination cities and stayed in the accommodation arranged by the government. "All safety measures have been taken during this process. They will appear the examination and return home safely," he added.
Some parents are planning to take their children in their own or hired vehicles to examination centres to reduce physical contact with others during travel in public transport. They will also take homemade food with them for their wards.
