College of Engineering and Technology, Akola belongs to Shri Shivaji Education Society Amravati which is the second largest learning society of Maharashtra, involved in giving just about all sorts of education from schooling to Ph.D including Technical and Medical teaching under the aegis of society. The society was established in 1932 by Social and Educational Activist also Minister of Agriculture in the first cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru Hon.Late Dr. Panjabrao Alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh. The core values of society are to impart education for uplifting the downtrodden from Vidarbha region plus a step towards the lessening illiteracy of the country.
College of Engineering and Technology, Akola having an excellence of 37 years for imparting the quality technical education, the brand ambassadors of any institute are their alumni, 7500 plus students have graduated from the institute and giving their services worldwide at various levels in the corporate. The institute is having state of art infrastructure, operational with modern equipment in the laboratories. All laboratories are recognized by SGBAU, Amravati for Ph.D research. A man is known by his company likewise this institute is recognized by highly qualified and experienced faculty members. Almost fifty percent of the faculty holds doctorate and have patents on their name which strengthen the Research and Development activities of the institute and motivates students for novel research projects in their UG and PG programs. The institute offers the undergraduate program in Mechanical, Chemical, civil and computer science and Engineering with Architecture and post graduation in structural and Chemical engineering.

The various grants awarded to the Institute by AICTE and UGC for the overall development of students.
