CHAMARAJANAGAR: The government has
suspended Chamarajanagar
DSP G Mohan on charges of dereliction of duty in connection with a road
accident in May.
Chamarajanagar SP Divya Sara Thomas confirmed to TOI the suspension of DSP G Mohan, who was recently transferred to the IGP’s office in Mysuru. Earlier, a local
police inspector and a sub-inspector were also suspended, the SP added.
The alleged dereliction of duty pertains to a road accident between a sand-laden tipper and a truck in mid-May near Santhemaralli.
It is alleged that some police officers in the jurisdiction, to cover-up their lapses in controlling illegal sand transportation and fearing action from higher-ups for the same, had replaced the sand with M-sand. The officers concerned had also allegedly emptied sand from the spot, leading to suspicion of the
cops.
An investigation into the incident was carried out and a report was submitted to the government.
Mohan was recently transferred to the IGP’s office Mysuru. However he got suspended even before being relieved of the DSP post.
