LUCKNOW: The city’s Covid-19 caseload crossed the 35,000-mark on Wednesday with 869 more people testing positive for the infection, which could be due to the weather, lax public attitude and lapses in contact tracing, experts said.
Of the total 35,121 cases reported since the outbreak, about 26,046 (74.1%) including 835 on Wednesday have recovered. At present, 8,606 (24.5%) are recuperating in hospitals or homes.

On Wednesday, Gomtinagar recorded 43 cases, highest in the city, followed by Indiranagar (39), Alambagh (38), Aashiana (35), Aliganj (33), Jankipuram (30), Thakurganj, Naka and Chinhat (29) each.

An analysis showed that the number of cases in September first week was 11 times more than that in July first week with no signs of a flattening of the curve as of now.
Experts said disregard to precautions by the public is one of the prime reasons for the spread.
Besides delay or no contact tracing of patients is allowing asymptomatic carriers to transmit infection.
Monsoon has also accelerated the growth because humidity is conducive for the novel coronavirus.
