PATNA: A 35-year-old iron trader was shot dead while he was asleep just outside his shop at village Madanpur under Daraundha police station area in Siwan on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Vijay Kumar. Police said the incident took place between 12.30am to 1am.
Police sources said that the killing took place over financial dispute over Rs 50000.

Daraundha police station SHO Ajeet Kumar Singh said Vijay’s elder brother Sanjay Prasad had recorded his statement with the police in which he has made three persons as named accused for killing his brother.
“The trio was involved in a financial dispute with Vijay. They had purchased iron grills and gates prepared by Vijay but did not pay him. The trader was continuously pressurising them to clear the dues resulting in enmity between both the parties,” he said adding an FIR was lodged with Daraundha police station in connection with the killing.
He said Vijay was shot in the chest from a close range in his sleep. SHO said Sanjay, who was among the four sleeping at the spot, told police that he had seen three persons fleeing the spot with whom his brother had enmity.

SHO Singh said that no empty cartridges were recovered from spot. He said Vijay’s residence was just a few hundred meters away from the spot.
Meanwhile Maharajganj SDPO Polust Kumar said that one of accused had lodged an FIR with Maharajganj police station against Vijay for stealing furniture from a community hall from a village neighbouring Madanpur.
“Killers had been identified and raids were on to nab them,” SDPO said.
Maharajganj police station SHO Dayanand Singh said the FIR against Vijay was lodged hardly one week back by Madan Yadav whose name had surfaced in killing.
“In preliminary investigation only, it became clear that Vijay had no involvement in furniture theft and case against him was false,” he added.
