RANCHI: Over 80% of the total candidates from Jharkhand sat for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) conducted across 36 centres in the state on Sunday. In Ranchi, out of a total of 21,012 medical aspirants, 10,710 of them appeared for the examination in 25 centres, leaving the scare of Covid-19 infection behind.
The candidates said they were satisfied with the elaborate arrangements made by the administration and examination centre officials for social distancing and other safety norms.

Ranchi district officials said the examination was scheduled between 2 pm and 5 pm but considering the high number of candidates, they allowed entry from 11 am onwards. According to the guidelines of National Testing Agency (NTA), the panel which conducted the examination, every test centre should be sanitized, have thermal scanning facilities and spacious enough for social distancing.
Ranchi ADM (law and order) Akhilesh Sinha said, “We are satisfied that the examination was conducted smoothly. A total of 75 magistrates were put on duty across the test centres to ensure that all safety norms were followed. Masks were provided to those who turned up without wearing them.”
Several candidates had come down to Ranchi from far-off districts like Palamu, Garhwa, Godda, Giridih and a few districts of Bihar along with their parents by private as well as public transport for the examination. They were, however, happy with the arrangements made and appreciated the central government’s decision to conduct the examination.
