More than 22,000 new coronavirus cases recorded in Maharashtra

Coronavirus cases in the state of Maharashtra have increased significantly, and the total has crossed ten-lakh mark, making this the first state to have such a high number of cases. The state health department released the data on Saturday, and as of September 12, Maharashtra had a total of 22,084 new cases. The total number of cases in the state reached 10,37,764 with 29,115 deaths.

Further, more than 7 lakh patients have been treated in Maharashtra. With 7,28,512 recovered patients so far, the recovery rate in the state stands at 70.2 per cent. As of September 12, a total of 13,489 patients were discharged from several hospitals in the state.

Currently, over 2.7 lakh cases are active in the state and have been admitted to hospitals for treatment. The information was passed by the state health minister, Rajesh Tope.

Besides this, 51,64,840 samples have been tested so far, and 20.9 per cent of them have tested positive. More than 16.5 lakh people in Maharashtra are under home quarantine and 38,275 people are in institutional quarantine, as per the guidelines issued by Maharashtra government. The death toll in the state has risen to 2.81 per cent.
