Bihar: Nitish Kumar launches building projects worth Rs 622 crore

PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a total of 29 government buildings worth Rs 622.22 crore through video conferencing from ‘Nek Samvad’ hall of his official residence at 1, Anney Marg, here.
He also laid foundation stones for a new multistoried building and campus for Patna collectorate at its existing location on the bank of Ganga river in the state capital.

“The new administrative building and campus of Patna collectorate will be built at the cost of Rs 186 crore. Besides the office of Patna DM, altogether 39 district and sub-division level offices of different departments will be housed in the new building. It will also have three conference halls. The new campus will be exceptionally beautiful. It will have four gardens. There will be a green area of 3,484 square meter within the campus. It will be incredibly beautiful as all norms related to environment protection will be followed in construction of the new collectorate,” Nitish said after laying foundation stones for the collectorate building.
Other prominent buildings for which foundation stones were laid on Wednesday, were proposed engineering colleges at Ara and Narghoghi village in Sarairanjan constituency of Samastipur district, Khel Bhavan in seven districts, two 200-bed hostels (one for girls, other for boys) in the MIT campus at Muzaffarpur, Three 200-bed girls hostel in Mahila Polytechnic at Bela, Muzaffarpur, Two 200-bed hostels (one for girls other for boys) at Nalanda Engineering College at Chandi and construction of a building for the Industrial Training Institute at Manihari in Katihar district.
The CM also inaugurated new buildings of the Sitamarhi Institute of Technology, Sitamarhi, on the occasion. All the above-mentioned buildings were being constructed by the building construction department (BCD).
Besides the BCD buildings, the CM also laid foundation stones for the buildings of a government degree-level college at Arwal. The college building will be constructed by the Bihar State Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM asked the BCD officials to maintain the quality of construction works at any cost. Nitish also called for regular maintenance and proper upkeep of the new iconic buildings which were built by his government in the recent years.
The CM further said the concerned departments whose offices are housed in the new buildings, would ensure proper sanitation round-the-year in the government buildings.
CM further lauded the officials of the BCD for constructing several iconic buildings in Patna, Rajgir and other parts of the state in the recent years.
Presiding over the event, the BCD minister Ashok Choudhary praised the CM for leading the state on the path of development. Terming Nitish Kumar as “Architect of Modern Bihar”, Choudhary said no other government in Bihar since the Independence did so much development on the front of infrastructure, as done by Nitish government in the last 15 years.
Education minister Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma, in his speech, said, “Even the hardcore political opponents of Nitish Kumar admit in private talks that no CM has done development work at par with Nitish Ji.” Verma also said that Nitish Ji was famous for completing all those projects / works for which he makes announcements.
Vidhan Sabha Speaker and Sarairanjan MLA Vijay Kumar Choudhary lauded the CM for laying foundation stones for an engineering college at Narghoghi village in his constituency.
Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi also spoke on the occasion.
