Uttar Pradesh: Governor renames Varanasi's Manduadih railway station as Banaras station

VARANASI: The Uttar Pradesh governor has formally renamed Manduadih railway station as Banaras railway station in view of the no-objection certificate (NOC) given by the ministry of home affairs of Government of India.
It became clear after the district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma on Thursday released the copy of the notification issued by the principal secretary (PWD) Nitin Ramesh Gokarn.
When TOI contacted Gokarn, he disclosed, "Formal renaming of Manduadih railway station as Banaras Railway Station by the governor was done on Wednesday (September 16, 2020).
The notification was issued in view of the NOC given by the ministry of home affairs of Government of India on March 31, 2020.” Now, the matter is in the court of ministry of railway and railway board to complete further process of renaming of this railway station in Varanasi, added Gokarnn.
