Speed of trains in Chennai-Madurai section to be increased

MADURAI: Southern Railway on Thursday announced that it will soon increase the speed of trains in the Chennai Egmore-Madurai-Chennai Egmore sections from the existing 100 kmph to 110 kmph.
The SR has been authorised by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) after conducting inspection in the section.
Railway officials said that all observations made by the CRS during the inspection had been complied with after undertaking various track improvement work.Several speed trials were also conducted.
Necessary advice will be given to loco pilots and guards through internal communication.
