  • England and Australia players landed in Dubai on Thursday
  • The players will now spend 3 days in isolation before joining their IPL franchises
  • The players will also undergo mandatory RT-PCR tests for the novel coronavirus

Australian and England players reached Dubai on Thursday for the Indian Premier League 2020. The players arrived in a chartered flight from Manchester, where they just finished their 3-match ODI series which Australia won 2-1.

The players were already in a bio-secure bubble in England where they played 3 T20Is, which England won 2-1, and 3 ODIs. They will now enter the IPL bio-bubble before joining their respective franchises.

A picture of David Warner and Pat Cummins in full-body PPE kits after landing in Dubai is going viral on social media.

"Can anyone tell me who are these people? Unreal but yes the charter flight with the English and Australian players have just landed in Dubai for the @IPL and this is how they look! New Normal! Bring on the @IPL," India Today's Boria Majumdar posted.

21 players from England and Australia arrived in Dubai for the IPL and will now spend 36 hours self-isolating themselves in their hotel rooms.

The quarantine duration of these players is much less than the 6-day period maintained by players who went to UAE from India because the English and Aussies merely shifted from one bio-bubble in England to another for the IPL.

The players will now have to undergo a mandatory RT-PCR test for the novel coronavirus on their arrival.

"They have undergone one rapid test before boarding (the flight) and will undergo another on arrival. Otherwise, the robust testing protocols will be followed as usual. The rationale behind the move is that all the players are entering from one bio-bubble to another," the veteran BCCI official confirmed.

IPL 2020 will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah from September 19 to November 10 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
