KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 — A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Banda Sea, Indonesia at 6.32 pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorology Department (MET), in a statement, said the quake occurred about 388 kilometres south of Ambon, Indonesia, at a depth of 186 km.

However, it posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said. — Bernama
