Hyderabad: After House joust, minister drives 2-BHK point home

High drama prevailed at Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s house at Banjara Hills on Thursday morning when animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and mayor Bonthu Rammohan landed at the former’s house to show him the 2-BHK houses constructed by the government.

HYDERABAD: High drama prevailed at Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s house at Banjara Hills on Thursday morning when animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and mayor Bonthu Rammohan landed at the former’s house to show him the 2-BHK houses constructed by the government.
The duo asked the Congress leader to accompany them to see for himself the houses constructed by the government at various places in the city.

The CLP leader and Srinivas Yadav had a wordy duel over the 2-BHK houses during a debate on Greater Hyderabad development in the assembly on Wednesday.
Bhatti Vikramarka dismissed the claims of the TRS government that one lakh 2-BHK flats were built in Greater Hyderabad and asked where were the houses? He also commented that the 2-BHK issue was being raised only during elections. Srinivas Yadav said the government was ready to show him the houses and promised to take him on a tour on Thursday.
As promised, the minister and mayor reached the house of the CLP leader on Thursday morning and asked him to accompany them.
The minister took Vikramarka to Jiaguda, Gode Ki Kabar, Kattelamandi, Indira Gandhi colony, Ambedknagar and Bansilalpet, where the houses were being constructed, in his car. Officials explained details of the houses and facilities being provided at the colonies.
Later, addressing a joint press conference, Srinivas Yadav said the government proposed the dignity houses with an intention that even the poor should live in a decent house. “The house construction was taken up at 60 places, including Rasoolpura, Musheerabad, Amberpet, Khairtabad and Secunderabad. Each 2-BHK flat value is ?1 crore and is being allotted to the eligible without any partiality,” the minister explained.

Bhatti Vikramarka said they visited 3,428 houses at various locations in the city and would visit some more places on Friday. “The state government said it was ready to allocate one lakh houses to the poor. At many places, old house were demolished and new are being constructed. I will visit some more places tomorrow,” he said.
Replying to queries, the CLP leader said only people could judge the differences between Rajiv Swagruha and 2-BHK houses. He said he would take the opinion of engineers on the quality of the houses before commenting on them.
