CHANDIGARH: As the Delhi government is yet to give the sanction to run the inter-state buses services, the Haryana Roadways has given a go ahead to its fleet of five Volvo buses on the Chandigarh-Gurugram route from Friday.
However, even as the bus service has been started, the roadways had to cancel its Friday's run as there was just two bookings for the journey.
"Till evening, we could get just two bookings of one passenger each in the evening buses.
Hence, we had to refund their money. Now, we are hopeful of putting buses on routes on Saturday," a senior official at Chandigarh depot said.
Notably, the buses will depart form Chandigarh and would have a halt of 15 minutes at ISBT Panchkula. Therefrom, the buses will leave for Gurugram via the Ambala-Panipat and route through outer Rohtak.
State transport department director, Virender Dahiya confirmed the development and said that government-level deliberations are on with New Delhi and Himachal Pradesh.
"Once Delhi gives a go ahead, we shall put entire fleet of Volvo buses on the Chandigarh-New Delhi-Gurugram route. While running the buses, we have taken all kind of precautions keeping in view the rules of the particular territory,’’ said Dahiya.

According to information, the ticketing will done through online booking and manual booking from Chandigarh and Panchkula. The buses will have only up to 21 passengers from Chandigarh while rest of the passengers will be allowed from Panchkula or enroute Gurugram.
Similarly, those travelling back from Gurugram will be allowed to travel up to Panchkula while only 21 passengers will be given the tickets for Chandigarh.
Notably, as of now, Rajasthan, Uttar Pardesh and Punjab have allowed the inter-state buses to Haryana. Haryana Roadways has already written to Uttrakhand and Himachal Pradesh governments to allow the movement of its buses in their states as well.
