Letter: Make Trump put his mouth where his money is

(Evan Vucci | AP file photo) President Donald Trump arrives for a campaign rally at Bemidji Regional Airport, Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, in Bemidji, Minn.

I would like to watch Trump at one of his rallies go out and mingle with the crowd. Watching him kiss babies and shake hands with all his supporters would make me feel that he really cares about the people who risk their lives to go see him and not wear a mask. Instead, all I see is him risking the lives of the people who are there to support him. Do you think that if Herman Cain had it to do over he would have gone to a Trump tally so he could mingle and high five with the other people? I think not.

Also I would like to see the Trump supporters who think it’s their constitutional right to not wear a face mask to demand that their surgeon not wear one the next time they need open heart surgery.

I would also like to see how Jon Huntsman would call Mitt Romney a well-oiled weather vane when I (who never used to like Romney) now really appreciate his honor and values. Mitt is now my idol and Huntsman is the well-oiled weather vane. When will he put country above party like Mitt did?

I would also like to ask our constitutional expert Sen. Mike Lee when he is going to cry “executive overreach” like he did when Barack Obama was the president. He hasn’t said a peep lately.

One day, a great Republican (other than Mitt) will scream out that the pathological lying president (emperor) has no clothes.

Meantime, all I can do I watch in disgust and feel bad for the Republican Party. History will judge them badly just like they did Sen. McCarthy.

It’s too bad that the truth doesn’t matter as much as it used to. I sure hope that it starts mattering again soon.
