Police in Rajasthan’s Alwar district have arrested three people and detained two minors for allegedly gangraping a 45-year-old woman on September 14, officials said Saturday. One more accused in the case is still absconding, they said.
According to police, the incident took place when the woman was returning with her nephew from a neighbouring village after meeting an acquaintance.
Confirming the arrests and detentions, the circle officer investigating the case said, “The nephew had parked his motorcycle and they had gone to return money to their acquaintance. When they were returning, 5-6 people surrounded them. They misbehaved with her and assaulted the two. One of the men raped her while the others helped him and molested her,” said the circle officer investigating the case.
“The accused then threatened the nephew and tried to get him to rape the victim and filmed a video of the two,” the officer further said.
Police said the woman filed a complaint in the matter on September 17, after the accused released the video on social media.
The FIR has been registered under relevant sections including section 376D (gangrape) of the IPC.
