RANCHI:
Jharkhand reported 23 Covid deaths in the last 48 hours and the toll crossed the 600-mark and stood at 602. The number of
fresh cases also continued to pour in with 2,504 new infections during the period which included 1,026 on Thursday and 1,478 on Friday.
East Singhbhum reported the highest number of casualties with a total of nine deaths (six on Thursday and three on Friday) which was followed by coal capital Dhanbad (three on Thursday and two on Friday) with five deaths.
Ranchi reported three casualties on Thursday but there was none on Friday.
West Singhbhuum reported one death each on Thursday and Friday while Chatra, Dumka, Jamtara and Palamu reported one death each on Thursday.
The
positivity rate too maintained its streak and stood at about 5.69 % as 1,478 out of 25,962 samples tested positive for the virus in the last 48 hours till Friday evening.
Ranchi and East Singhbhum top the number of new cases with 701 and 508 cases respectively, followed by 166 fresh infections in West Singhbhum.
