Haryana: JJP Shahabad MLA demands withdrawal of ordinances, action against those who cane-charged farmers in Pipli
Shahabad MLA Ram Karan Kala.
SHAHABAD (KURUKSHETRA): Taking a stand, the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) Shahabad MLA Ram Karan Kala said that the government should talk to the protesting farmers before implementing three agriculture ordinances as demanded by the farmers, arhtiyas (commission agents) and labourers of the region.
Shahabad MLA Ram Karan has also demanded that cases registered against farmers should be withdrawn and those whether in uniform or civil dress who cane-charged farmers during their protest at Pipli on September 10, should be identified and booked.

He said, “I am a representative of people of my region who elected me and standing by their side is my duty.
In a talk with TOI, MLA Ram Karan said, “I support farmers, arhtiyas, and labourers, as I believe that if they are not ready to accept three agriculture ordinances then it cannot be implemented forcibly. If they are not accepting these laws, then why is the government imposing the same on them? Farmers, arhtiyas, and labourers are comprised of all 36 biradaris (communities), if the government is not ready to listen to them, then from whom will it ask for votes in future?”
“The incident of cane-charging on farmers in Pipli on September 10 should be enquired. Efforts should be made to identify and register cases against those who cane-charged farmers whether in uniform or civil dress. Even Kurukshetra SP denied that she did not give any orders to use force against farmers. Cases registered against farmers should be withdrawn by the government”, said the JJP Shahabad MLA.
When asked that his party JJP is in alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana and it has not opposed the ordinances openly so far, MLA Ram Karan said, “Our party has 10 MLAs in Haryana and it is in alliance with BJP. I am not criticizing the government but raising the demands of people of my region. In Haryana, we have a deputy chief minister too, but as an MLA I can only raise the voice for the people of my region and further decisions are taken up by the senior party leaders. The senior leadership should either talk to state chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar or the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a demand that the people in our region are not ready to accept these ordinances and it should not be implemented forcibly.”
To a query, MLA Shahabad said, “I am with the farmers, labourers, and arhtiyas in this matter and I will continue to raise their issues at any level possible.”
