Would martial law be the answer?

I fear the outcome of our upcoming presidential election as neither party is likely to accept the results. There seems to be only one way to reconcile the divisiveness that is inherent in the current sentiment of both parties, and that, my friend, is martial law. I don't for a moment advocate this solution but must admit that I welcome it. I am sick and tired of all back-biting, nastiness and downright ugly politics being fed to us daily.

We need to reinstate order, civility and some sort of commonly shared decorum that might lead to meaningful debate of the issues facing us all. If we cannot willingly accept this responsibility, then let it be forced upon us.

Scary politics

Halloween and the election are upon us. And both can be scary.

Democrats are so driven by hate that they cannot seem to make any clear decisions to help the people they serve. They lie and the media swears to it. And their supporters will vote for the senile old man and hope that the Democrats that are really in charge will do the job. Except, they aren’t sure who that is. Or what their agenda is.

I read your letters to the editor and there are three letters in support of Trump that are positive -- they don’t tear down Biden but rather state all the good things they have personally seen Trump do that have impacted them in a positive way. The Biden supporter, however, spews all the rhetoric that the media spits out and, as typical of the uninformed, has nothing positive to point out about Biden. I wanted to vote Democrat but I could not bring myself to punch my ticket for Hilary. It did not make me happy that I had to vote for Trump.

President Trump campaigns in Florida in 2016.

Now, I am not sorry. I have seen many positive things. Yes, there are things I don’t like. But there is not a perfect political candidate ever. Good outweighs bad here for me. Trump has a proven record and has a firm agenda. No secrets there. If you don’t like the agenda, then vote Biden.

Let’s save spaceship Earth

This is an open letter to all crewmembers of spaceship Earth (every human alive) and especially their leaders.

Nationalism doesn't work here on spaceship Earth. It would be analogous to different departments on a ship trying to run the ship independently. They all need to function together to run the ship efficiently.

Agreed, different countries have different ideas as to the best form of government, but I say let the crew members vote with their feet for the best. I think democracy would win. The main problem is the ship's cooling system is failing because it is a very delicately balanced system that has been thrown out of balance by the crew.

It doesn't help that the leaders of each department (country) are just looking out for themselves, while our basic life support systems fail.

Let's all work together to save the ship.

Trump not qualified to be my POTUS

The POTUS’s family military history is pitiful.  His grandfather left Germany to avoid the military draft and immigrated to the U.S.  No Trump served in any military.  Only Fred Jr. was in the National Guard.  POTUS along with many others took a “fraudulent” deferment.  Donald, Jr. was 23 on 9/11, didn’t sign up.  Eric was only 17. Trumps didn’t go to Desert Storm, Gulf War, Afghanistan.  They did shoot endangered wild animals.

The POTUS’ businesses took six bankruptcies, which hurt creditors and investors, but not him.  By the way, his father was arrested for marching in a KKK march in Washington, D.C.  My point? What a heritage: Not qualified to be my POTUS.

By the way, I am a lifelong Republican from Indiana.

Urban unrest

It seems Democratic city mayors and state governors aren’t very good students of public safety operations in urban areas.

Currently, we see vast chaos plaguing major Democrat-led cities, with large crowds of protesters roaming the streets, at will, escalating passions as they go, leading to rioting, property damage, disruption of traffic, looting and destruction of businesses, large and small, and violence on innocent citizens, while city leaders limit law-enforcement.  Unbelievable.

Former Republican mayor of New York City, the honorable Rudi Giuliani, made his city one of the safest metropolitan areas in the nation for the peaceful conduct of civic, economic and social activities, during the 1990s. He and his administrative staff and city council, at the time, allowed periodic protests, but required each to be licensed and limited their movement to specific locations, prohibiting any intrusions of businesses, private property or traffic. Further, each protest group was prohibited from use of dangerous materials and weapons. Any group attempting to move outside specific designated areas would be arrested by law-enforcement and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Admirable.

Don’t Democrats want peaceful cities as much as Republicans? And, why isn’t Mayor Giuliani’s approach to law enforcement being utilized by these Democratic mayors?

Democratic politicians keep trying to blame the riots on President Trump’s influence. But the longer it goes on the clearer it is that Democrat leadership, from top to bottom, is primarily interested in political power, but not necessarily the best interests of their constituents. Don’t be fooled.
