Publish the list of frontline warriors who died of Covid-19 and help their families: Gudur Narayana Reddy
HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy on Saturday charged the TRS government of neglecting the frontline warriors in the battle against coronavirus.
The frontline warriors including doctors, para-medical staff, police personnel, sanitation workers among others are risking their lives every day to protect the lives of people from Covid-19. But these warriors were not getting the required medical support if they got infected with Covid-19.
"The police personnel are not getting free treatment under Aarogya Bhadra scheme due to the non-payment of dues by the state government to private hospitals," Narayana Reddy alleged.
Narayana reddy who is himself a survivor of Covid-19, demanded that the list of frontline warriors who died of Covid- must be placed in public domain and help their families.
“When CM KCR faced criticism for not attending the last rites of martyr Col Santosh Babu, he immediately rushed to his house in Nalgonda and paid ex-gratia of Rs. 5 crore, allotted a house site and appointed Col. Santosh Babu's widow as Deputy Collector. The CM must take immediate steps to help the families of frontline warriors who died due to Covid-19,” Narayana Reddy demanded.
"It is unfortunate that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao did not hold a single meeting to check the facilities being provided to frontline warriors. Is the State Government maintaining any data of frontline warriors who are getting infected with Covid-19 and those who succumbed due to the disease,” he asked?
Narayana Reddy said that both central and state governments were calling them as warriors against Covid-19 but not recognising them as martyrs in case they die doing their job. "The central government went on record in the Parliament admitting that it was not having the data of doctors who died due to Covid-19. It simply shifted the blame on state governments saying that it was their duty to maintain the data as health was a state-subject. This is completely inhumane,” he said.
