Konkan Railway delivers two state of the art DEMU trainsets to Nepal
MANGALURU: Konkan Railway has successfully delivered two state of art 1600 HP DEMU train sets with modern amenities to the department of railway, Nepal on Friday under the guidance of Piyush Goyal, minister of railways. This is under Indian government’s policy of Make in India - Make for World and is a flagship export of India to find great visibility in Nepal, a Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) communique here stated.
KRCL signed an agreement with the department of railway, Nepal on May 10 to supply two 1600 HP DEMU train sets.
These trainsets have been manufactured at Integral Coach Factory, Chennai. Each train set has one diesel power car, one diesel trailer car and three trailer cars, including one with air-conditioning. The train sets have the latest AC-AC controlled propulsion system. The value of the order executed is Rs 52.46 crore.
The Konkan Railway team moved these trains from Jaynagar in India to Janakpur in Nepal. People of Nepal received these train sets well along the route and at Janakpur. These DEMU train sets are planned to be used for passenger services between Jaynagar in India and Kurtha in Nepal. Konkan Railway is happy and privileged to work with the department of railways and the ministry of physical infrastructure and transport, Nepal, KRCL stated.
