SLEEPY EYE — The New Ulm Eagles tennis team followed up last week’s home win over River Valley with a 4-3 win in Sleepy Eye on Monday afternoon.

The Eagles won three of four singles matches, and Emily Guggisberg and Maddi O’Connor won in 1st doubles to clinch the meet.

In singles, New Ulm’s Makiah Otto topped Brooklyn Moldan 6-3, 6-4 in 1st singles. In 2nd singles, Kaydince Thoms of River Valley beat Abby Hietala 5-7, 3-6, 3-10. Malia Emerson topped RV’s Kiera Lafferty 6-1, 6-1, and Lydia King topped RV’s Taylor Berkner 6-2, 6-0.

Guggisberg and O’Connor topped RV’s Megan Stevens and Alexis Garza 6-0, 6-2. RV won the last three matches in doubles. Sydne Wahl adn Erika Lozano topped Makenna Simpson and Gracelyn Nesje 7-6 (7-5) and 6-4. Lilian Merkel and Alx Vigil lost to Presley Dockter and Maya Nelson 6-2, 6-2, and Kate Frauenholtz and Calyn Glaser lost to Jasmyne Windschitl and Leann LoreLozano 6-2, 6-2.

New Ulm plays next at Waseca on Thursday.
