The Qala Local Council has asked the Commissioner for Environment within the Office of the Ombudsman to investigate the Planning Authority’s “inaction” in considering its requests for revocation of two permits in Triq ta Kassja, Qala.
Together with NGO Din L-Art Helwa, the Qala Local Council had filed these requests for revocation back in May because of what they describe as, “irregularities in the application.”Despite constant reminders having been sent for the past 5 months, the Council said that the PA has not held the hearing to decide upon the revocations. In the mean time “the massive blocks are being built.”Qala Local Council concluded by saying that, “this will change the face of Qala and Gozo forever. The Qala Local Council decries this deliberate inaction and asks for an investigation into the matter.”
Gozo`s councils should follow what Qala local council do to protect it`s environment.
My Advise for both islands –
You have to bring a personal need to build !!!
No need – no building !!!
Business buildings have to step back – may there is another building – still empty – than NO PERMIT !
The island space is LIMITED .
No PORTELLI or other Builders has the right to close the islands with buildings in there own need to make money !!!
Who ever is working in the PA should be hold accountable, investigated for conflict of interest and the damage that is being done to our Island.
