Bihar: Woman hacked to death with spade by brother-in-law in Supaul

PATNA: A 40 year old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her brother-in-law with a spade over a petty family dispute at village Simriya under Triveniganj police station area in Supaul on Tuesday morning. Police said the slain woman was identified as Kaushalya Devi.
Triveniganj SDPO Ganpati Thakur said the villagers nabbed the accused named Vinod Mandal. He said that the incident took place between 8am to 9am.
“Vinod is aged around 26 years.
Villagers had thrashed him and after which they had tied his limbs so that he can’t flee. Police reached at spot after getting information and arrested the accused. He was brought safely to the police station while guarding for irate mob,” he said.
Thakur said that Vinod and his other cousins had picked up a fight amid each other on some petty family dispute.
“It was during this dispute that when Kaushalya tried to intervene when Vinod lost his cool. He picked up a spade kept nearby and attacked her multiple times resulting grievous deep injuries on upper parts of body causing immediate death,” he said.
“Kaushalya’s husband Shyam Sundar Mandal had lodged an FIR against Vinod accusing him of killing Kaushalya,” SDPO said. He said that body was handed over to family after conducting post-mortem and further investigation were going on in connection with the incident.
This is second such incident in state within four days which has come to light. On Saturday, a man had hacked his wife using spade at village Tula Chhapar under Gopalpur police station area in Gopalganj district.
