Google today celebrates the 80th birthday of Arati Saha. Arati Saha, a long distance swimmer and Olympian. Google created a mesmerizing doodle to celebrate her. Arati Saha is best known for swimming across the English Channel on September 29, 1959. She covered a breathtaking 42 miles from Cape Gris Nez, France to Sandgate, England. Infact, she was the first Asian woman to swim across the English Channel. Relevantly, between 1946 and 1956, Arati participated in several swimming competitions. Arati Saha's mentor was Sachin Nag who won the first gold medal for India in the Asian Games.
