A TALE OF TWO CAMPAIGNS. Donald Trump Jr. on Thursday becomes the latest in a long parade of officials of his father’s campaign or administration to visit New Hampshire in the past few weeks, but the Joe Biden Granite State campaign is confident in its approach to winning the state’s four electoral votes Nov. 3.>> Download the free WMUR appThe younger Trump follows Vice President Mike Pence, who held a rally in Gilford on Tuesday, as well as brother Eric Trump; Pence’s nephew, John Pence; and in official visits, First Lady Melania Trump and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. Not to mention that the president himself rallied supporters in Londonderry on Aug. 28.Trump Jr. today will hold an event at the Lobster Trap Restaurant in North Conway, with doors opening at 11 a.m. He’s then scheduled to attend an event at the White Birch Armory in Dover at 2:30 p.m., hosted by the city’s Republican committee.The lineup of high-profile Trump supporters continues next week, when, as we reported Wednesday night, former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley arrives for what’s expected to be multiple stops, including fundraisers for Republican 1st District U.S. House candidate Matt Mowers and the Committee to Elect House Republicans.Despite this continuing flurry of activity, the Joe Biden campaign in New Hampshire says it is in a strong position to deliver the state for the former vice president.A memo by Biden state director Laura O’Neill being released Thursday says, “With six weeks left until Election Day, Biden For President New Hampshire is in a strong position to win the Granite State and send Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House.”The memo, which can be seen in full here, cites the various coalitions the campaign has created among women, “diverse voting blocs from populous cities” and rural business owners.O’Neill discusses the campaign’s almost entirely virtual approach to working with volunteers and ultimately reaching voters, noting that when Trump held his rally in the state, “our campaign experienced its highest single day of volunteer sign-ups to date – a 1,440 percent increase in sign-ups from the previous day.”O’Neill wrote that amid the pandemic, the campaign has been able to “meet voters where they are.“Our phone contact rates are higher than they have ever been and we are having meaningful conversations with voters about the direction of our country in unprecedented times,” O’Neill’s memo says. “We host phone and text banks every week and hold weekly meetings with Granite State leaders to activate volunteer groups across the state.“We will conduct literature drops and have operational supply centers across the state to ensure that voters can get the information they need about our campaign. All of these activities will be executed with strict adherence to public health and social distance guidelines to ensure safety.“And you will see our campaign continue to meet voters where they are. We will use all of the tools at our disposal -- including our surrogate program, local media engagement, digital program, paid media, and more -- to persuade and mobilize every eligible voter to cast their ballot for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”
