Test your survival skills in a new adventure on the UAE's highest mountain - when the world's first Bear Grylls Explorers Camp (BGEC) opens in Ras Al Khaimah's Jebel Jais this October.
Bear Grylls - famous of hit TV shows like Man Vs Wild and World's Toughest Race - will be bringing his globally renowned survival courses in the Middle East for the first time. The camp is situated close to the Via Ferrata on Jebel Jais.
Learn practical and extreme survival techniques that could help you navigate some of the toughest terrain in the wilderness. In every adventure, there will be an element of surprise: You may have to learn how to make a fire, build emergency shelters, or figure out the best ways to use a knife for survival. There can also be a dedicated practical instruction on remote medical trauma treatment, navigation techniques and extreme weather survival.
The survival courses, to be run by UK experts trained at the Bear Grylls Survival Academy, will include half-day (three to four hours), eight and 24-hour adventures for adults, families and team building activities. Later in the year, 48-hour and instructor courses for outdoor enthusiasts will be launched.
Lodging to open next year
For an overall mountain experience, a Grylls-branded accommodation is set to open in 2021, taking survivors' adventures to the next level.
Twenty recycled and redesigned containers will serve as lodging for the night, catering to those seeking a true outdoor experience to unwind and reconnect with the wild.
Guests shall be hosted with basic self-catering, including a private BBQ on a private outdoor terrace to prepare meals.
Safety protocols in place
The camps' opening aligns seamlessly with travel experiences set in expansive, open and natural environments. Experiences are curated for smaller groups with safety protocols and social distancing measures fully in place.
