The jobless rate in Las Vegas last month dropped from 16.6 percent to 15.5 percent, according to a report from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
The employment office says employment in the state has climbed for four consecutive months, with Las Vegas having the slowest rebound in jobs.
Nye County had the second-highest unemployment rate in August at 9.6 percent while Reno’s was 7.2 percent.

The report notes that the dependence on tourism to drive the Las Vegas economy is a factor, adding that the area has lost 127,400 jobs since August 2019.
